Put on your fedoras, your feather boas and fancy frocks for “A Night of Cabaret” from 8-10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, at the Palace Theater in Downtown Hilo. The fundraising event for the Palace will feature glamour, skill and feats of acrobatics. The non-stop entertainment will include carnival antics, aerial silk dancing and even a striptease. In cooperation with the Hawaii Burlesque Festival, “A Night of Cabaret” will present a dynamic showcase of award-winning local and international cabaret and burlesque stars who have performed in places like Paris, Vienna and New York. Walter Greenwood will also offer up some pre-show entertainment on the theater’s pipe organ. In addition, guests at the event will have the opportunity to bid at a silent auction of fun art prints and other gifts donated by local artists. “It’s going to be a fun-filled night with top-notch variety performers,” says Morgen Bahurinsky, Palace Theater executive director. “You will hear great voices, see talented dancers, enjoy some risqué jokes and burlesque acts, including a 90-year-old woman entertaining us with a striptease. It will all be tasteful and lots of fun.” Hilo resident Dorothy Williams of “America’s Got Talent” fame, is that 90-year-old. Williams received the “Golden Buzzer” award on the national television show after performing a risqué strip tease for the judges and audience.
